The regulatory compliance mark(RCM): Demonstrate product compliance with regulatory compliance mark for your products in Australia and New Zealand.
Did you know? All electrical products imported into or sold, offered for sale, supplied, or offered for supply in Australia and NZ must be electrically safe. Every electrical item, no matter its use, needs to comply with AS/NZS 3820, “Essential safety requirements for electrical equipment” the standard for general electrical safety. Moreover, you cannot legally sell an unlabelled product in Australia if it’s in-scope for RCM.
The Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM) is a trade mark owned by the electrical regulator (Regulatory Authorities (RAs)) and Australian Communications Media Authority (ACMA). The RCM shows that a product meets the requirements of two separate compliance schemes:
- EESS (Electrical Safety): Electrical and electronic products covered by the EESS must carry the RCM to show they meet Australian electrical safety standards (AS/NZS 4417.1 & 4417.2). Only RCM-marked equipment may be sold.
- ACMA: (Radiocommunications): Electrical and electronic products covered by ACMA rules must carry the RCM to show they comply with the applicable radiocommunications standards and regulations before being supplied.

Supplier Declaration of Conformity(SDoC): A Responsible Suppliers Declaration is a declaration of compliance with either the EESS and/or the ACMA schemes, made when registering on the database.
In Australia
Safety SDoC-Responsible Supplier and Equipment Declarations (EESS)
They are formal statements made during registration to confirm compliance with EESS requirements. In addition, an Equipment Declaration is required for each in-scope product confirming that the equipment meets applicable standards.
EMC SDoC-Supplier’s declaration of conformity(ACMA)
It applies to suppliers intending to import or manufacture telecommunications, radio communications, electrical, or electronic equipment under the regulations of the ACMA. It is separate from the EESS and does not pertain to electrical safety.
In New Zealand
Safety SDoC-Worksafe
Supplier Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) is needed for medium-risk products sold in New Zealand. It provides a description of the product and confirms that it meets the relevant safety standards or other required safety assurances.
Note: A valid SDoC and its test reports must be provided to Energy Safety within 10 days if requested, and also be available to any buyer.
EMC SDoC-RSM
The SDoC is the document signed by a New Zealand supplier or a New Zealand agent of an overseas manufacturer or supplier to certify that a product meets applicable radiocommunications standards.
