1. NSW Fair Trading Issues Temporary Exemption for Washing Machines
NSW Fair Trading has released an official order providing regulatory relief for washing machines under the Gas and Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2017. Sellers of models compliant with the base standard AS/NZS 60335.2.7:2020 are temporarily exempt from mandatory compliance with Amendment 1 (+A1) or the newer AS/NZS 60335.2.7:2024 edition, allowing current stock to be lawfully sold until 29 November 2027.

2. Mandatory Registration for LED Lamps Now Enforced
The GEMS (LED Lamps) Determination 2025 is now fully in effect. All suppliers importing or selling covered LED products in Australia must ensure their products are registered under the new requirements, including the LED lamps placed on the market in a containing product.
